This course serves as a special interest course on non-profit broad access institutions, community colleges, and minority serving institutions, including addressing multiple pathways and transfer in higher education. In particular, this course will discuss the role that these institutions play in increasing students’ access and retention in higher education, especially in regard to historically underserved groups.

History of American Higher Education

This course serves as an introduction to the history of American higher education, the various arguments and perspectives at-play in discussing different eras, and the relevance of understanding history as it relates to today. Importantly, this course places a particular emphasis on understanding the histories of underrepresented individuals and institutions in American higher education.

Introduction to Educational Research Design

This course serves as an introduction to the basic principles and methods of conducting educational research, particularly designed with Masters and first-year Doctoral students in mind.
